Hello loves,
I finally finished City of Heavenly Fire, the sixth and finale book of the Mortal Instrument series. I cannot wait to share with you my thoughts! Before you guys continue, pls note that this is the last book and you could make a 4 season drama show with this book alone! So there shall be a little (who am I kidding? A lot!!) of spoilers in this review. So unless you don't plan on reading this book or already have, you may not want to read on.

Favorite Parts
So many good things happened in this novel! Simon saving Isabelle's life, Magnus and Alec get back together and finally open up to each other! Just so good. (Note: I am violently shaking my head) I loved seeing the characters "inner desires" and watching them come over their fears. Oh and the love in the air! The romance and love in this book, which is where all their decisions stem from, is very evident in the book and not at all exaggerated.
Not So Favorite Parts
Simon losing his memories! I absolutely hated that part. And honestly, I felt like Ms. Clare really dragged that part out. One hundred more pages dedicated to watching the Clave try to reassemble itself? Oh and sending Helen and abandoning Mark just because they have faerie blood?! When are they ever going to learn that this is just going to repeat itself if they don't learn to get along!! They have already had 2 "World Wars", and at this rate, Ms. Clare should just break out her pen and write another series on the 3rd one.
Total Shockers
Sebastian turning out to be good. Who knows, if the heavenly fire hadn't killed him, he could have been good? I hate that Ms. Clare is so good with that! I have such mixed emotions on Sebastian character! I want to hate him because he caused all of this and then when I see he has some human in him by wanting and loving Clary, plus he has reason to hate and feel alienated by the Shadowhunters, I feel like I understand him. Then Im sad because he had such potential!! Ugggh...
And Simon turning into a shadow hunter, how does that even happen! Im glad he is no longer a vampire because he absolutely hated it, but I thought they were just going to defy the clave and tell him the truth. Yet this is way better and everyone got to live.

Funny Bits
Simon biting Alec... Awkward yet funny. And drunk Simon had me busting out laughing. I loved that part. I always love how her books have a layer of humor on them. Its not all drama and romance, they're still have regular teenager problems, that they solved in the most obvious and practiced teen way of dealing with them. Laughing.
Ranting about the Ending
Is it just me, or was the ending too... happy. I know right, I am cray. But I feel like... I cant wrap my head around it. These 6 books have all been about war and death and tragedy, and watching the characters handle it with teen flare: rebellion and awkwardness, with regular teen probs laced int. I just feel like... Simon gets his memory back and becomes a shadowhunter, Maia finds Bat, Magnus and Alec get back together, Sebastian dies with forgiveness, Brother Zac turns human again. Everyone gets a happy ending and it kinda defeats the whole point of the tragedy and hard times. (pls tell me its not just me! How did you feel about the ending?)
Overall Rating
I liked the book. It was good, I felt like it was missing those downs to make it feel like the war was real. But it was good and had a lot of surprises I defiantly wasn't expecting and the ultimate journey for our favorite shadowhunters. It was good, but everything can be better.
I hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know your thoughts on Heavenly Fire and the series overall. Im thinking I need to check out the pre-series, the Infernal Devices, now. Have you guys read any books from that series? Let me know if you think I should check it out!
