I just finished reading this amazing series last week and I wanted to give you guys a quick review (WITH SPOILERS!!) to tell you what I thought about each book and the series overall!
Book #1: The Selection
This book really captivated me in the beginning. Just the overall idea of the Selection stood out. It was like a combo of Hunger Games and the Bachelorette! I just thought it was super unique. I also loved the depth that Cass gave to the character and the challenges that they went through.
Book #2: The Elite
Can we just take a minute to cry over Marlene's canning. I literally died at that part and I . . . just lost all of my emotions. I loved the 2nd romance between Marlene and the guard and thought it was a wonderful way to connect back to the things America was going through with Aspen. I also loved the moment when America realized she was going to fight for Maxon in the end because I had been rooting for them since the very beginning!
Book #3: The One
Another cry moment for when America's father past. I loved that the author made him a rebel and showed another side to the rebel force rather than just brutal attackers. I also really loved the ending to this book and the series. I was so happy that Aspen and Lucy were together, especially after her story in the beginning. I loved that Aspen and America are still friends. I was so sad when Celeste died, especially after we saw a new softer, nicer side to her. The death of the King and Queen made me ball my eyes out!! It was just overall a good ending, not to happily ever after, but realistically happy and hopeful.
Overall Series
All in all. I loved this series! I love the idea and its uniqueness. I love the characters, the plot, the romance, the twist and turns, the hardships, and the ending. The only thing about this series is it seems a little drawn out. Like the same problems kept happening again and again and the characters kept having the same hesitancies and making the same mistakes. It was almost a little repetitive. But I still loved it and I am so glad I took the recommendation to pick it up! I am definitely going to read the short after stories as well.
Well that's it! Leave me comment below letting me know what you thought of the books and which one was your favorite. Also please leave me some reading suggestions down in the comments because I am attempting the 50 book challenge next year, so I am gonna need a whole lot of reading material. Have a wonderful day :D
