Today I wanted to talk about healthy eating. It is a new years resolution that I have been slightly struggling with, but I wanted to share a few tips that I have been doing to help you guys if you have been having a hard time with this too!
Tip #1: Drink more water-- This is kind of a duh one, but one I still struggle with none the less. I tend to add a low-cal or calorie free drink mixer to it or add fruit to my water
Tip #2: Skim back on red meat-- Beef and pork are harder to work off then leaner meats like seafood and chicken. This isn't too hard for me since seafood and chicken can be cooked in many different ways so I don't get bored, but I do have an Achilles heel for steak!
Tip #3: Eat more Whole Grain-- This is also another duh but still quite hard since I love bread! I tend to substitute my morning toast with rice cakes and eat more wraps than sandwiches. I also switched to whole grain pasta and brown rice.
Tip #4: Protein after a workout-- this was something I knew was necessary, but kind of hard to fit into my tight morning schedule. What I started to do was make a protein shake at night, freeze it overnight, and take it out in the morning to thaw so it was ready to drink after my workout!
Tip #5: healthy snacks-- temptation is everywhere, so I keep healthy snacks with me like bags of fruit and veggies, healthy snack bars, etc. so I don't cave when someone brings candy to school or donuts for breakfast.
Bonus Tip: Treat yourself every once in a while, nothing is to harmful when you eat it in moderation
